Peace

Peace – It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Face Recognition

Haha ... This morning I surfed on over to MyHeritage.com. There I found a fun free service that they offer – face recognition to find out what celebiries one most resembles. The following results came up for me:

John Cusack (71%), Orlando Bloom (68%), Clint Eastwood (64%), Brad Pit (62%), Arnold Schwarznegger (59%), Art Gurfunkel (58%), Jose Carreras (58%), Michael Douglas (53%)

After I stopped laughing…which took a while, I shortened the URL for and wanted to post this blog entry so that you can try it out for yourself: http://facerecognize.notlong.com

Holiday Dinner

The Felton Fire Protection District held their annual Holiday Dinner this past Saturday in the evening for the firefighters. Before heading off to the fire department I joked with my wife about how, if an emergency were going to happen that evening, it would happen just before, or during, the dinner.

If someone was going to have an emergency near the Felton area, I suppose last Saturday evening would have been a great time since most of the firefighters were going to be at the station.

Sure enough, shortly before we left our house to drive to the dinner, there was a vehicle accident on Graham Hill, a page went out, and the firefighters that were already at the station and dressed up in their holiday attire jumped into their turnouts, climbed into the engines, and headed out to the incident.

Moments later I came upon the accident – there were two engines with their crews. As I passed by one of the firefighters looked solemnly at me as I continued on my way to the dinner. His look said a thousand words…which included, “ Grr – I envy you – you’re going to have warm food and I’m going to stand out here hungry and cold. ”

Once I arrived at the station I walked up the apron and into the main hanger – dress shoes and nice clothes piled on the ground. I felt bad, yet couldn’t keep from smiling. About an hour later the responding firefighters made it back to the station. Fortunately, they made it back just in time to have dinner…and the food was awesome!

Rhythm & Flow

It's amazing how rejuvenated one can feel after being out on the trails after just a few minutes...the rhythmic, flowing motion is restorative. Motion should join water, food, and sleep as the basic daily requirements for sustaining human life.
