Donate Your Taco

Taco Bell is giving out free tacos between the hours of 2pm-5pm on Tuesday, 10/30/2007. It's part of a promotional gimmick wherein one crunchy beef taco per customer would be handed out if a base was stolen in the 2007 World Series. Trust me, I'm not a big baseball fan and I haven't been watching the World Series. However, I heard that Taco Bell is going to make good on their promise because Boston Red Sox rookie center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury stole a base during the 2007 World Series. Why make a run to the border when you can steal a base and place tacos in the hands of happy people across America!

For me there's one problem ... I'm at work and can't get out of here between 2pm-5pm for my free taco. I want to, believe me, I do. Oh, the dilemma. What to do!?

Changing the subject for just a moment (trust me, there's a connection here), the wildland fires in Southern California over the past week and a half have been devastating, leaving many people houseless. I couldn't imagine losing my house and everything inside. Countless people are living in shelters right now as they are about to embark upon the journey of picking up the pieces of their carbonized dreams. They're probably hungry too for some non-emergency relief food.

Wait -- free tacos! YES!! I came across the website http://www.donateyourtaco.com/ last night. The goal of the website is to get Taco Bell to donate the equivalent value of unclaimed tacos to the Red Cross relief efforts for the California wildfires. I loved the concept when I read about it and in turn donated my taco.

Importing Old Blog Posts

I'm starting to import blog postings from 2006 and prior from my old blog to here. I'm glad because I was dreading loosing my old postings. I had been using B2evolution previously. I'm also really happy that I was able to keep the original timestamps for each post!

Changing Blogs

This is my first post using Blogspot. I had been maintaining my own server and blog installation and it ended up being too much of a hassle. So, I compared various free blogging services and opted to go with Blogspot because it best met my needs with minimum headache.

Here's how my page is laid out:

- In the left column you'll see my blog posts (e.g., this post). I'll post to the blog occasionally. I'm not sure what I'll be blogging.

- In the right column, underneath my profile, you'll see my Twitter feed. Twitter is awesome - it shows real times updates of what I'm doing or random thoughts that I might might be having. I can send updates from a computer, as a txt from my cell, or by voice using Jott. I'll post updates regularly to twitter throughout the day.
